Ultrasonic Defectoscope Control - UTD

Ultrasonic defectoscope control

We perform ultrasound checks for defects (cracks, volumetric and linear discontinuities) on welds, forged and rolled products.

ISPECO performs ultrasonic inspections searching for any leak (e.g. cracks, volumetric and linear discontinuities) on welds, forgings, and laminates, using the latest technology (GE, Sonatest, Olympus) equipped with probes of various sizes, angles, and frequencies.

Defectoscope ultrasounds are frequently used to check welds in pre-service and during service, to replace or to support radiographic control (gluing).

Using particular precautions (i.e. adjustment, calibrations and suitable probes) the ultrasound control can be used to:

  • verify the presence of disbonding;
  • verify the presence of anomalies caused by hydrogen attacks with particular reference to blistering (Hydrogen blistering) and step-wise cracking (Hydrogen induced cracks "HIC").
